Protocol and Cabling


Protocol is a set of rules that governs the communications between computers on a network. The characteristics are access method, allowed physical technology, types of cabling and speed of transfer data.
Ethernet protocol is the most widely used protocol. The Ethernet protocol allows for linear bus, star, or tree
topologies.
LocalTalk protocol is a protocol which develop Macintosh computer.
Token ring is where the computers are connected so that the signal travels around the network from one computer to another.

Cable is the medium through which information usually moves from one network device to another .
there are several types of cables such as Unshielded Twisted Pair, Shielded Twisted Pair, Coaxial cable, Fiber optic cable.
